ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

"Recently I made a decision to help myself by engaging in hypnotherapy with Phil. This was to see if it could help manage my anxiety, which is linked to a fear of failure and judgement, and is coupled with a high degree of negative self talk.

These are things that I have found difficult to manage throughout my life and as a result have led me to often back away from opportunities due to an unsubstantiated lack of self confidence which then leads to further negative self talk and anxiety.
My experience with Phil has gone a long way to addressing this, by tapping into that part of me where these thoughts come from.
This is already starting to have significant impact on my decision making and view towards everything from my fitness training to my work and most importantly to my family.

I feel I now have balance again, my self talk is much kinder to me, and as a result I am able to rationalise many situations that previously would have sent me either into a negative spiral of self doubt and criticism or avoidance.
Phil has a fabulous approach to the sessions by removing all judgement and simply wanting to help.
I certainly benefited from the hypnotherapy itself but also from Phil’s coaching and support both during the sessions and also the from the follow up communications.

I’m grateful to Phil and I am really enjoying taking each day as it comes and getting the most out of each and everyone, including looking much more proactively into future career and personal development as well as really finding the love for my training at VMA Fitness, Crowborough.
I would highly recommend Phil to anyone looking to make positive changes in their life...and ask yourself, “what have you got to lose?”

"Recently a family member went along to see Phil for Hypnotherapy due to depression/anxiety/comfort eating, which they had been going through for 5 years and had tried just about everything to get sorted and back on track with no luck. Phil invited them to a session at VMA Fitness 45, minutes later the change was absolutely astounding, this was well over a month ago no signs of depression or anxiety, constant happy mood, has their motivation back and has lost over a stone in weight.

It has completely and utterly changed their life for them would absolutely highly recommend Phil's services he is amazing"

“I have had the pleasure of having a hypnotherapy session with Philip. He has the ability to make the subconscious mind sparkle a bit more so that space is created for a noticeably happier life. He speaks with a very calming voice, is very structured, wildly skilled and super empathetic. As I left from there I could feel an inner change. I feel like, I had a mental-massage and now can let go of my problem, which has occupied space for much more happy feelings. Thank you Philip, you will receive my warmest recommendations and I will work on to get a more balanced life.”

“I arranged to see Phil for a hypnotherapy session at a time when I was experiencing extremely high levels of anxiety on a daily basis, which was impeding my ability to function normally. I was very often panicked and edgy, tearful, extremely short tempered, needy, paranoid and defensive. I didn’t know what to expect from the session and went with a completely open mind, I just knew that I wanted to feel better. Phil helped me to feel completely at ease, explaining the process at each step and sensitively getting to the heart of what was causing the anxiety. I found the whole session to be extremely cathartic, in relaxing and comfortable surroundings and the results have been nothing short of incredible! At the end of just one session, I felt lighter and more at ease. In fact I couldn’t stop smiling! I started sleeping better, and noticed myself reacting differently to things that would have previously triggered anxiety. Day after day I felt stronger and more confident and now, almost a month later, I’ve not had a single anxiety attack, I feel in control of my emotional responses and I’m more relaxed and positive in general because I find myself living more ‘presently’ and noticing the little things in my day that make me happy. All of this with no actual effort on my part, it was just as though a shift occurred during the session which re-wired the negative thought patterns I was trapped in. Working with Phil has made such a huge positive difference to my day to day life and I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

Before seeing Phil a few weeks ago I was struggling with anxiety. Phil took time to talk to me about my issues and explain a bit about anxiety to me, without delving too deeply into old wounds. Since seeing Phil, I have noticed a big improvement , I was able to attend a recent work do without the usual need to find a reason why I couldn't attend (after paying for tickets!) and more importantly, he unexpectedly helped me with being able to get back on my horse again. After completely loosing my confidence. The next day (after my treatment) I was back up and riding again. He also remained in contact to see how I was getting on. I can't thank Phil enough and would definitely recommend him to anyone considering hypnotherapy.

"I was going through a very difficult time in my life, I was depressed, incredibly low, had no self-esteem , confidence, I felt very lost….. I was introduced to Phil Lear through a work colleague, Phil felt very confident that he could help me get through these times through hypnosis and learning several techniques to combat my anxiety. Even after the first session with Phil , I felt a difference, more perspective, clarity and self-worth. After further sections, Phil’s confidence in helping me became very apparent, a massive improvement, back to being me again. A massive thanks to Phil, I cannot recommend his treatment enough…"

BODY DYSMORPHIA

"Before I contacted Phil I was at a loss. My life had become so miserable with my constant anxiety and BDD struggles. I was willing to try anything to take the edge off and feel happiness and some sort self love/ confidence. I have struggled with BDD since I was around 15 and over the years it has got progressively worse, to a point I would call in sick to work and struggle to leave the house without constantly checking my skin texture and appearance. My anxiety over skin texture also caused me to pick at my face resulting in damage which is something I was desperate to stop as this was causing me even further anxiety.

Phil was easy to speak to and super reassuring, I felt completely comfortable, like I was talking to someone I had known for years who really understood and cared for how much this was affecting me. My session was so deeply relaxing and uplifting I cried tears of happiness for the first time in years afterwards. More importantly I left that session with a feeling of hope and like there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Since my second session I have seen improvements in my behaviour patterns and am able to recognise and control my urges or stop them sooner. I now have the tools to better my future thanks to Phil! I would not hesitate in booking with Phil again and I highly reccomend his treatment."

EXCESSIVE BLUSHING

"Ha ... it makes me laugh as I title this! I used to to call it the ‘B ‘ word because I couldn’t even content-plate saying the word without doing it. From the tender age of 9 I had a my first episode whilst being bullied in my new school. Moving from a tiny country school of 54, to a town school of 100s - I didn’t expect the reaction I got. I lost confidence, stopped putting my hand up and more importantly stopped expressing myself in fear of judgement be it good or bad, I stopped showing up.
This continued throughout my life, I didn’t have interviews, speak at meetings, go out to crowded places, my ex’s used it against me and it went as far as stopping my passions, one of which was sprinting.
Phil was incredible. Right from the start, I emailed him because I was too embarrassed to talk over the phone, he encouraged me to the see him and we confronted it. At no point when I struggled with tearful eyes, rosy cheeks and a stammer to my words did I feel pressured or rushed. He was kind and sincere.
After digging deep and Phil worked his magic, I walked away feeling tall again. Phil kept in touch with me as the weeks went by and it’s only up until now, one month on, I realise how far I’ve actually come.
I think of the little scenarios that have happened I would have once shied away... from my bank contactless not working, forgetting my mask, being charged £10 for 3 sweet potatoes (can you believe it!) I defended myself and boy did I hold up that whopping queue behind. It was only as I thought of the little things I realised the big things.
My online business is growing now that I chat through live videos, I attended a 3 way meeting and even went back to pursue my passion further. So as I step back into the role of an athlete and embark my first stadium competition. I’m not worried if I stutter or blush because it’s a genuine reaction to an emotion, simply like being speechless whilst you're overwhelmingly happy.
So I only ask that you trust my words when I say with Phil, you are safe and free to express your fears, working together to lift your anchors and set your sail."

CONFIDENCE

"I recently decided to have hypnotherapy after realising I could no longer cope with my nerves whilst competing with my horses, this is something I've done all my life and couldn't understand what was happening. After a lot of sports psychology which was unsuccessful, I decided to look into hypnotherapy and I'm so glad I did. I am someone that suffers with severe self-doubt and has generally no belief in myself. As a result when I've been trying to move up the levels it has worsened to a point where I could no longer control it. I can't believe the difference hypnotherapy has made to my whole general outlook on life not only has it helped with my nerves while competing and focus my mind on the job at hand, it has also helped with my day to day life at home and at work with just generally being more confident in what I do. It has also given me a much more positive outlook on life. I honestly can't thank Phil enough and would happily recommend him to anyone."

"I took quite along time to get help, years in fact, or to actually realise I needed help. When I finally did get the courage to find help, I wasn't quite sure where to turn, I knew I didn't want to see anyone who practised in the area that I lived and it needed to be someone who I would feel comfortable to talk too, so that I could be honest and try to see if I could get help unravelling my past events.
I knew Phil did hypnosis and this is how I ended up seeing him! From my first contact with Phil, he went out of his way to make the process as easy and stress free as possible. He talked with compassion and kindness which enabled me to say and describe my issue. My fear of being in a situation that I couldn't handle, where my "Jack in the Box" would open and freeze me in time, leaving me with internal shaking. I wasn't always sure when it would open! Not only did my "Jack in the box" open in the day, it had caused nightmares for years, leaving me, unable to sleep on many occasions.
This didn't bother him at all, in fact he was able to explain why it was happening. Phil was able to take me back in time and detach me from that moment in time, lifting a lot of weight off my shoulders and releasing a fear which was subconsciously with me 24hrs a day... I have to say, I don’t think I have ever left anywhere feeling so calm or relaxed. That evening for the first time in a long time, I slept a deep sleep and woke up in the morning rather shocked!
I have been finally able to close the lid on the past and move on with a smile. I feel more confident and I don't process situations, I just go and try them. I have the courage to say when it's got too much instead of just taking it. It has had a rolling effect in many areas of my life and when I look back before seeing Phil, I realise just how much has changed and how much I was holding myself back. Phil has helped me find my internal confidence and it's growing week on week. Phil's aftercare has been amazing and encouraging at each stage. I would recommend Phil to anyone, who needs help, I just hope people don't wait as long as I did to see him."

ANGER

"I have always had high stress levels and have handled it poorly, either lashing out or holding it in until I'm physically unwell. I've done all sorts of things to try and remedy this from yoga and meditation to doctors referrals to health in mind. Nothing has ever worked for me until my sessions with Phil. In the last month I have not felt extreme stress or anger as I normally would on a daily basis, I don't let things weigh down on me or dwell on things I cannot change, but most importantly I am happy. I laugh constantly and am much more light-hearted, fun and at ease. I'm not sure I can ever thank Phil enough for the difference this has made to me and everyone that has to deal with me on a daily basis. I would recommend hypnotherapy to anyone, for me it really has been life changing."

PTSD (Trauma)

"Trust your sky!!

After living a grey life sheltering myself from people, shops and locations in protection of myself and child from my narcissistic ex - I felt that the saying ‘ time is a healer’ just wasn’t cutting it for me! I wasn’t getting better or feeling free! I was still under control of something that had long left our lives.

I was recommended to Phil by a dear friend that after another episode of panic and shaking whilst driving past my ex, I pulled over to gain composure and knew enough was enough, I had to make the contact and boy am I glad I did!

My journey through Phils treatment was second to non - a journey I didn’t expect and proud to say I’m still embracing.

Through my first session we had a long in depth conversation about my past of which at no point was I obliged to say anything, however I felt because I was forced to keep my past a secret, speaking out fully for the first time would be the only way my healing would truly begin.
Phil was kind, sincere, present and calm - nothing phased him.

So as I ‘panted’ my words out with tears down my cheeks I spoke my tale.

We rectified what was obvious in my first hypnosis and I left with faith to trust my sky and hope all would work.

As my first week unfolded, I was incredibly emotional, tight chested and sick - although this was a great test for me... these were the feelings that I should have felt and instead suppressed away in my life events of sexual, physical and emotional abuse. Feelings up till now I hid so tightly!

Phil worked with me through this transition, giving me tools to manage this door he had widely opened. With my ‘homework ‘ committed to , my second week was beyond brighter. I was eating out in cafes, I shopped at my local supermarket and even went to the park. I received great business opportunities and spoilt with compliments.

As I approached my second session we learnt that I had in fact been quietly living with PTSD for 22 years.

I was taught meditations, new beliefs and techniques before finalising my second hypnosis, which gently pushed the clouds to pasture new.

So as I share my story with my eyes and heart wide open- I learn to nurture myself with butterflies of only love and joy and I’ll wish only one thing!

If you're reading this & have something that needs addressing ...

I would wish you to take the plunge here with Phil,
Embrace your journey and
Trust your sky!"

"I was sceptical when Phil suggested Hypnosis might help me overcome issues with exercising. I wanted to exercise, I needed to exercise but my body kept blocking me. I would get part way through a class, then suddenly be in tears, wanting to run away. I suspected this was a bigger, deeper problem, stemming back to experiences where my body had responded to fear and pain by curling up and protecting myself. I had a vague memory of a young girl who felt free and liberated and enjoyed exercising, but couldn't access that experience in adult life. This was surely going to be a long-term therapy job.

I had been going to Phil's Mindset classes for a while where I really got in touch with the desire to tackle this particular problem and felt safe and comfortable enough to do so. So when Phil gently suggested that hypnosis might help, although I was sceptical, I felt I could trust him to take a chance.

The actual session, one session, was not long at all. Phil clarified the presenting issue with me, then explained what was going to happen and that I was always in control. I was seated comfortably and relaxed before following the visualisation that Phil led me through. I didn't have time to 2nd guess what he was saying or to overthink it (my usual responses when someone is helping me). I got in touch with that freedom feeling and, somehow, through this process, something in my mindset changed. It was a very powerful experience and I'm still not sure how it worked, but I know that it was life changing.

Phil is very gentle and grounded in his approach yet I can't help but be inspired by his passion, emotional strength and desire to use his many skills and abilities to help people find their best selves. I trust him and believe that if something is possible, he can definitely help you achieve it."

“Phil gave 2 hours of his time to sit calmly with me and and look at an issue that I had regarding a long standing fear I had about being pushed, thrown and held down. I felt very at ease throughout the session where he gently enquired about the issue and how I wanted to picture changing positively for the better. It did not activate any long standing PTSD which speaking about the past can. After spending a good deal of time discussing why I had come he then used hypnosis. I can say that I have seen a good improvement. I feel more physically secure and assertive, calmer and positive about the future. Thank you Phil I would recommend anyone who wants help with positive change in any way comes to try a session with you. They won’t be disappointed.”

PHOBIA'S

“I came to see Phil Lear As he was recommended to me through a friend.

When i came to Phil I was terrified to drive on the motorway, this is something that has built up over time due to something that happened to me 18 years ago. I live the other side of the M25 to all my family and a lot of friends when I moved away 3 years ago. This has made it very difficult for me to visit them as the only way is around the motorway.

I had been so frightened that I would panic around a week in advance prior to the journeys and get myself in a big state of fear, and when I finally got on the motorway I would be a nervous wreck and feel as though I couldn't cope or feeling as if I would pass out which was very frightening especially when I have the children In the car.

Since seeing Phil just once he made me feel very positive and I have driven 4 times since on the motorway. I have been to see my dad twice and my mum and my friend. I have never really told anyone about it as I was embarrassed, because if people don't understand they think you're mad or a weak person.

It's amazing the difference it has made. I don't worry a week In advance and I don't feel scared anymore, I can go and see my family as much as i like now without worrying about tackling the motorway. I still use the counting and the inhaling and exhaling to keep me calm but the more I do it the less I need to use it.

I am so thankful for Phil seeing me and helping me. He has changed my life and my family's.

Thank you”

"I had my first ever hypnotherapy session with Phil over Christmas 2018. I’ve had an issue with eating certain foods after an incident at primary school and I’ve hidden this for as long as I can almost remember. At it’s very worst this was involuntary gagging from particular food textures and even strong food smells. Over the years this has had a huge negative impact on my life as well as to my family and friends and even at work. I’ve always been embarrassed and slightly ashamed of the problem and so finally I decided to talk to Phil about it and he assured me he could help. I’ll admit I was a little sceptical whether hypnosis would work for me but I was determined to go in with an open mind.

During the session, Phil was professional, patient & understanding. We discussed the history of my issue and what I hoped to get from my hypnotherapy session. The whole time I felt relaxed and comfortable as Phil led me through the visualisations. The two-hour session flew by and I left feeling energised and full of hope.

From just that single session the involuntary gagging has gone, disappeared entirely. I can now try foods that I know were an issue for me, foods that previously I couldn’t physically bear to even put in my mouth for fear of what would happen.

I’ve also found that I’m now calmer around foods in general, I’m more relaxed about eating out and with others and have been trying out foods that previously I’ve never experienced before or been too afraid to try. I find myself eating something new and marvelling at the positive change in me all from just two-hours of hypnotherapy.

From my experience, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending hypnotherapy to anyone with issues that impact negatively on their lives. Most importantly for me, I couldn’t have chosen someone better or more understanding than Phil to help me and cannot express how thankful I am for his help and support."

"I went to see Phil to get help with what I always thought was a slightly silly anxiety – vomit. Fear of people being sick, or even the thought of them being sick, was something that would come on quite suddenly during normal daily situations. Things like on a train, in the cinema, in a car, or the changing rooms at the swimming pool…

In the past, it was something that bubbled away and I thought I had under control. I masked it well – nobody else would have noticed! But in recent years it had been getting worse and was keeping me awake at night. Sleep deprivation and anxiety left me feeling very flat, confused and out of energy. The opposite to the outgoing positive person I usually am.

Having worked with Phil, I now know these anxieties relate to being raped over thirty years ago.

Before seeing Phil this was impossible for me to understand. I’d been suffering with what I thought was a phobia, but I couldn’t find any reason for this no matter how hard I tried. It was something I felt hugely embarrassed about because I couldn’t make any sense of it.

I tried to override it by getting fit and running. These things naturally made me feel better but the anxiety was still there. And rather than bubbling under as it always had, it increased to a whole new level and was overwhelming. I felt bogged down, foggy-headed and exhausted. A few panic attacks followed and at that point, I knew I needed to get some help.

I’d had counselling in the years after the attack and felt I’d dealt with everything. But what I hadn’t considered was that new stressful situations could leave me with similar feelings to those in the past and manifest themselves as something else. What I thought was a phobia of vomit was, in fact, post-traumatic stress.

By talking this all through with Phil he asked if anything had happened in recent years that had been stressful. I remembered an incident in a nightclub three years ago. My bag was stolen and the man then tried to steal my wedding rings. Understandably this left me very shaky and upset. A few weeks after I thought I was ok, but I noticed the anxiety about vomit suddenly took over.

Phil explained that what I was experiencing was a form of PTSD. This recent traumatic event had triggered memories from the past and resulted in this anxiety. The fear wasn’t really about sick but more about being in a stressful situation that I couldn’t control or escape. My anxiety had attached itself to vomit but the root cause of it was really about feelings of vulnerability, fear and not being in control.

He guided me back almost thirty years to make peace with it all. I’m not convinced this would have happened with talk therapy.

I now feel much calmer and stronger. It’s as if I’d been wearing an extra layer that I didn’t really need... I didn’t know I had it on, but it was weighing me down. And now that it’s been removed I feel much lighter and free. More open, relaxed and happy.

If you are reading this and it resonates with you - please have the courage to seek Phil’s help. He will handle you with great care and compassion. We didn’t need to go over too much of the past, just snippets or anything I felt was relevant. He is incredibly professional and kind, and I truly believe his passion in life is to help empower others.

I’d never considered hypnotherapy as a solution to something like this. Believing it was more for phobias or to break addictions. But I am so grateful a friend gave me his details. After reading through the testimonials on his website I knew I should give it a go. I’m so pleased I had the courage to ask for his help & haven’t wasted any more time carrying these burdens around.

I will always remember Phil for his guidance and incredible kindness."

WEIGHT LOSS

“I had my first Hypnotherapy session with Phil a few weeks ago. I was really apprehensive at first not knowing what would be involved or how successful it would be! However I went into the session open minded. Phil took his time before we got the therapy session started to ask me a number of question to establish what I was wanting to gain from the Hypnotherapy session. Once Phil established everything I wanted to gain from the therapy session we got started. That night I slept like a baby, I felt a weight had come off my shoulders when I woke . I started the very next morning without thinking too much about it; Eating Better, Drinking more water throughout the day, Eating good food regularly & Making time for myself...... Those are a few of the things that happened for me, I have also dropped 9kg in body weight and my energy levels are brilliant. I highly recommend you give Phil a call and get booked in. I live in Scotland and we did our session through Skype, no matter where you are in the world Phil can help you! Thanks Phil for making a positive change to my mindset.” Chris.

“I saw Philip in the hope he could help set my focus towards more healthy eating habits and outlook - something I have tried to achieve alone but never managed to maintain. We talked about my goals and had a simple hypnosis session to cut out my mid morning tea and biscuits. This was the support I needed as six months later I've not eaten a biscuit, have completely changed my eating habits for the better, have increased the amount I exercise and have dropped one stone and two dress sizes!

My one session with Philip was enjoyable, interesting, and exceeded my expectations; I don't hesitate in recommending him.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I met with Phil at the end of October. To say my life has completely changed for the better is not an understatement. We spoke about my inability to lose weight, I’ve been trying for over 16 years!. Since are session there have been some amazing changes, some which I’ve never before been able to change. Usually when I start a diet it lasts a few days before I start sabotaging it. However, I haven’t eaten much in the way of sweets not because I’m denying myself but because I just don’t fancy it. This has been over the past 6 weeks. Along with trying foods I haven’t eaten for many years as I couldn’t bare them In my mouth. I have also started exercising and enjoying it, taking time out for myself and not feeling like a failure for not being perfect.
If anyone has anything they would like to change go and see Phil, the changes are almost immediate but best of all it’s done by you and that gives you so much more encouragement to continue and Phil is there to help you along the way. I can honestly say I’m so much happier, eat better instinctively and love exercising and I have already noticed the difference in how my clothes fit.
I can not thank you enough Phil you have helped me change my life and it seemed like a simple light switch turning on that has completely changed my outlook on how I view not just me but everything.”
AB.

"I attended a session with Phil I was a little sceptical I think, but what a difference the visit has made to me. I left after the first visit confident that all l gained from the session was put into practice and be positive in my approach. I returned to see Phil 3 weeks later and the difference was immediately noticeable. I had had a lot of issues over the past couple of years stress, weight gain, anxiety and I am continuing in all aspects and highly recommend this service, it has made a life changing difference all that is left to say is thank you Phil."
JH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I contacted Phil initially to help with weight loss and mind set with food. What I actually got was a complete shift in mindset with regards myself. I've never had huge self confidence but Phil unlocked something in me that has made me be much kinder to myself and accept my qualities as well as my flaws.

Due to this I have started to look after myself more, eat more healthily with no stress over what I was putting in my mouth, exercise and as a by product of this I do look and feel so much better in myself.

I've never felt this happy in my own skin.
Phil is so calming and easy to talk to and the power he has is quite unbelievable. He is professional but also just extremely kind and clearly wants to help people.
I would highly recommend Phil to anyone."

INSOMNIA

"I had been having a lot of trouble sleeping. I became exhausted and was seeing everything negatively as I was not myself due to sleep deprivation. I came to see Phil on Monday and could already see a big difference in myself right after the session. That night I had the best 7 hours sleep that I had had in weeks. Since then I have been sleeping again and I have come back to my happy self, I am very grateful for all his help!"

SMOKING

"I have been a smoker for most of my life. Having tried every “tool” to stop with little or no success I decided to try hypnotherapy. As I have known Phil for many years I trusted him & felt comfortable asking him to help. His gentle, non-judgemental manner put me at ease immediately and I believe contributed to the success of the session. I am now 7 weeks nicotine free and determined to keep going!"
KS.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"When I was younger I used to be a serious smoker. I had attempted to give it up many times with varying degrees of success and had managed to stop for about 2 and a half years around the time I had my son but then relapsed back into smoking during my breakup with my ex-husband. Then 13 years ago, I started training in the martial arts and one morning woke up and simply decided, it no longer made any sense to smoke and couldn’t possibly justify it any longer, if I was serious about training... And I stopped just like that with no help other than the inspiration and strength I drew from the martial arts and for my son who hated the fact that I smoked and had begged me to stop.

Anyway, after 13 years of not smoking and not missing it, earlier in 2019 I slipped back into smoking... It started with a casual “why not.. I’ll have just the one.. I am not a smoker anymore..” when I was offered it whilst enjoying a conversation out in the sunshine... then before I knew it, there was a second one... and then another several a few days later... then it turned into one or two on an evening with a gin & tonic out in the garden after work... or when I was upset or when I had something to discuss with a friend... and yep you guessed it... I was hooked again... Somehow, just like this, I was a smoker again! I was ashamed... It made me feel weak. I was hiding all the time. I absolutely despised the smell... had to cover my hair when I smoked and scrub myself washing after each time I smoked... I hated it but just kept smoking more and more.

I felt I had lost control and pushed some sort of self-destruct button. It made no sense, it was ridiculously expensive, my son was upset when he found out.. but I just couldn’t find the strength or will to break the habit.. I was going through a difficult time in my life... I was a little lost.. I had lost motivation and self-belief in my own capabilities and hope... It was a dark, lonely time... and smoking was ‘one of very few self-soothing comforts’ I enjoyed ... that’s what I told myself.

But I knew that sooner or later I had to end it. I had to remember how to be strong again and stop this toxic cycle of self-harm. I had been thinking about the option of seeking some hypnotherapy to help me flick the switch and make me really decide it’s time to stop! The issue was I wasn’t sure who to go to and who I could trust with the finer workings of my subconscious mind... It was kind of a big deal to me who I let in there... And then, as if by chance I saw a post on Facebook by Phil Lear, someone I have known for many years... Yes I guess I had seen that he now did hypnotherapy but this information hadn’t really landed before this point... And then the answer was there staring me in the face.. It presented itself as clear as day.

I live some 3 hours away from where he is based. Yes I probably could have found somebody closer. But I KNEW he was the right person for the job. I booked the appointment and went to see him at his treatment room in Crowborough. I was nervous. Very nervous. Not least because I knew I had lost some of the bounce and the spark I had when I first knew him and was in a numb place at this point... I was nervous about the journey; about having to open up and talk about something which made me feel vulnerable; I was nervous about him seeing some lesser version of my previous self, nervous about him seeing me as disappointment or with judgement or even worse ‘pity’... However, I knew these were just self-sabotaging thoughts and actually I can use the fact that all of this was such a big deal for me, so as not to allow myself to fail once he had tried to help me... The session itself was liberating, empowering, illuminating, surprising, valuable, emotional and soothing.

Yes, some of it pushed me out of my natural comfort zone but at the same time I felt surprisingly at ease too once we got going. Some of the things Phil Lear said sneaked up on me and had a quiet but profound impact on me and the way that I viewed my situation with regards to my smoking habit but also with regards to my state of mind at the time... He helped me to see how strong my subconscious still was and that the feeling of weakness I was experiencing and battling with during this period of my life is nothing but a nightmarish illusion and I was allowing it the power to become a self-fulfilling prophecy... He reminded me that the person who is most important to me in the world is worried about me and me smoking is harming him not just me... my son. Anyway, this is probably the worst and most longwinded testimony but it is my story and the only way I know how to tell it is my own way... You probably wonder, will she ever get to the point.. what was the result?! Well, you might have guessed I wouldn’t be writing this, if it all failed miserably... I am happy and proud to be able to state that I am smoke-free and I no longer have cravings and that I now at times forget I had had a relapse from being a non-smoker. I am free and no longer a slave to it. There was no magic wand ... it took a bit of work but the magical powers of the human mind stirred gently by the knowing caring hand and carefully spoken words of Phil Lear got me my desired miracle. Not only did I stop smoking but am beginning to feel much better all round and am beginning to gently rediscover my old self and getting some of my mojo back. You could say that Taekwon-Do and my son were the driving forces behind me quitting smoking 13 years ago and they came back to the rescue once again... even if I no longer train and if my son is now a man.. I trusted Phil Lear enough to allow him to help me and I am happy that I honoured the trust he in turn demonstrated in me, when he said he believed I will succeed at this.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Phil Lear and encourage anyone who needs a little help to allow their subconscious mind to do the work that needs to be done. Make that call. Send that message. Contact him without delay and write your own long winded ‘testimony successful result happy story ending’. Be brave through the fear, be impervious to darkness, believe, make the first step and I know he will be able to help you. Thank you sincerely!"

BEREAVEMENT

"I contacted Phil last month in desperate need of help. Earlier that day I had seen the surgeon who was going to operate on my bowel and take my cancerous tumour out in 2 weeks time. They had unexpectedly discovered the tumour a week and a half prior to that as a result of investigating my sudden anemia. Thankfully the CT scan showed it hadn’t spread but it was still such a lot to take in and deal with.

Phil replied instantly on messenger and called me the next day. He calmly reminded me how strong I am, how to turn my fear for the children into a determination to fight for them. That initial phone call alone did me the world of good. He told me all the things I knew but without me having to fight to find them in my own head. The chimp in my head which had grown into a huge monster telling me I was going to die was instantly smaller and quieter. I saw Phil later that week and it became clear that not only was I struggling to deal with this but the grief of losing my father suddenly a year earlier was still a huge struggle for me.

After Phil’s first visit I immediately felt calmer. My stress/upset levels were initially a 10 and these dropped to a 5 after the first session and continued dropping over the following days. Instead of panic, fear and upset filling me when thinking or speaking about my dad, Phil had calmed my grief and Dad was now in my heart and I was able to think of him and remember happier days together.

Phil recommended a healing hypnosis along with meditation and visualisation and I religiously did these daily. The following session we worked on me being strong mentally for the surgery and to not break down in fear in the lead up or on the day. Even when I tried to think of the bad things that could happen, I couldn’t. It was as if my brain had blocked them out.

The day of my surgery I was strong. I said goodbye to my mum and my children with a smile. I concentrated on my meditation at the first sign of anxiety creeping in whilst in the waiting room once gowned up. I calmly hugged my husband and said goodbye as I walked down to the room for the general anaesthetic. As my cannula was put in I joked about them sorting out my wrinkles and “was I going now” as I went under. All of these things would have been impossible for me to do calmly and in control without Phil’s help and huge support.

Once in recovery I joked and chatted with the nurse but immediately used the tools Phil had taught me when I felt my body starting to shake on the way to the ward. When I arrived they were concerned with my breathing being so slow until they spoke to me and I told them I was doing my meditation/hypnosis breathing. I used a lot of healing visualisation that day and listened to my hypnosis. I was determined to bounce back. Luckily laparoscopic surgery was a success. I was up the next day, walking the following day and home 4 days after surgery.

The difference with Phil compared to counselling or therapy is he gives you the tools to be in control of your life. He literally turned my life around when things were going from bad to worse. He helped me regain control. I had comments within days of seeing Phil of how my sparkle had come back. I felt that too and liked it.

Anyone I speak to I recommend Phil to. I can’t recommend him highly enough. Even the nurses in the hospital when they were surprised at my recovery, positivity and being discharged early - I sent them Phil’s details. There’s no need to be worried, sad, upset, concerned, struggle with life, sleeping, eating etc. There is a happy way out and that’s to deal with it in a gentle but hugely effective way. If you’re sitting on the fence about seeing Phil I’d get off quick if I were you, call him and change your life.

I can’t and never will be able to thank Phil enough."

ANXIETY

(Child Session)
"I took my eight-year-old son to see Phil for two sessions regarding his anxiety. My son has always been shy and found new situations or people very difficult to cope with. Over the recent months, this has been developing further with constant biting of finger nails, sleeves or in the inside of his mouth. His teachers at school were also getting concerned about how to deal with this and were trying to put measures in place within school to support him. It was at this point I decided to try the method of hypnotherapy.

My son and I both knew Phil from a teaching perceptive, therefore my son felt confident enough to see him. Phil instantly put my son at ease. Phil showed him around the VMA centre, explained where everything was and explained what was going to happen.

I felt the two sessions went really well. I’ve never heard my son talk so much! It was wonderful to hear him open up so much. Phil took the time to really understand my son and paid attention to all the small details they discussed. I noted that Phil referenced to his own childhood which related to my sons, this added another element of connection to my son. He felt so at ease with Phil, he asked me if he could go back for a chat every week.

Since the sessions, my son has been showing so many signs of a leap in confidence. He appears to be biting fingers nails/sleeves/mouth less. He is chatty to strangers, for example – we went for Mother’s Day lunch and he was so vocally polite to the staff it took me by surprise, as before he would be too shy to even say thank you when given things. He is generally a chattier child, which has been lovely to hear. His teachers at school have also commented on how he is more confident to speak out in class. He was also confident enough to read out a reading in a school assembly, where I noticed he had very little to no shaking. This was a massive step for him. My son has also started a new after school club and has gone into the class without needing me to encourage him in.

Before seeing Phil, my son was a bundle of nerves, no matter what methods I tried. Therefore, these changes are already fantastic and have only happened with Phil’s support. Thank you so much Phil."

(Child Session)
Dear Phil.

Thank you for helping me with my worries. When mummy said about seeing you I thought it would be hard. I was wrong.

I had such a lot of sad days after changing schools and moving house, I cried a lot and had a bad tummy most days.

· I feel great now
· You helped me a lot and I loved talking to you as I didn’t feel silly.
· I don’t worry anymore and mummy says she has her happy boy back, still count smiles and definitely get more now.
· I have started doing 5 different sports now and when I do worry I use the tricks you taught me.
· I now love my school and think it’s better for me and I’m doing sports and making friends.
· My trousers are to small as I got a little weight on , mummy says its great as shows my tummy is better but she has be get me new bigger ones.

Thank you so much for helping me Leo

Mums point of view

Phil, I cannot thank you enough for the positive impact you have had on Leo . It took a while but he really has become a different child. He is up dressed and ready to go every morning. He’s doing sports, homework, and best of all he’s caught up at school and is thriving.

Sitting in on the session and seeing how you connected with Leo and brought his issue to the surface with such ease was really touching.

He literally floated out .

I would recommend you to anyone.

Michelle

(Child Session)

I am 9 years old and I went to see Phil to boost my confidence. I was a bit nervous at first, but my mum told me that it would be ok, so I did it. It really helped me. Phil was really nice and easy to talk to. I feel like I benefitted a lot from going to see him. My mum stayed with me the whole time that I was there and sometimes if I’m feeling scared or worried she reminds me of what Phil said. If you are finding things hard either at home or at school, then I would recommend going and having a chat with Phil and hopefully he can help you as much as he has helped me.

Mums point of view

My daughter (aged 9 years) had been struggling with anxiety and confidence issues following a family bereavement last year. In April this year, a friend recommended I get in contact with Phil and I can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done. I wasn’t sure hypnotherapy was the answer before we met Phil, but seeing my daughter so upset and anxious every day and with a long waiting list for counselling, I was willing to give anything a try. Despite my daughter being resistant to going, once we got through the door, Phil put her (and me!) totally at ease. I was in the room the whole time, but sat behind my daughter to ensure she directed her responses to Phil and not me. Afterwards, she admitted that she had completely forgotten I was even in the room!!
Despite her protestations at home that she wouldn’t speak, my daughter engaged fully in the session. Being there myself also enabled me to understand what prompts to use later on. When we left the room about an hour later, my daughter literally bounced back to the car and didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. That night was also the first night we didn’t have tears before bed – something which I can now say become a thing of the past. We have had a couple of minor wobbles, but as soon as I have used Phil’s prompts they’ve eased. All in all, I can honestly say that my daughter has become the happy, confident little girl that previously I could only dream of. Huge thank you to Phil and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

NIGHTMARES (Child session)

“I would highly recommend Phil, he was very understanding and positive with his approach.
My little boy was very anxious to begin with, Phil instantly put my son at ease, relating to him on his level. I could visibly see my little boy relax in to the chair as session began.

As Phil teaches my son Taekwon-Do this was a huge advantage, it really felt like a natural process. He is well respected within the community and with the children that he teaches, I personally couldn't think of a better person for my son to visit and feel comfortable talking to.

My Husband and I noticed a complete change in my sons behaviour and mood following the session, we will definitely arrange to go back. Not only was this beneficial for my little boys well being, it helped me as a parent to take a step back and listen to how Phil approached the situation, and how positive techniques could be used at home to help him.

Eternally grateful
Thanks”
D.
